Dry skin-brushing has been around for thousands of years. I first read about it when I was a teenager in a book on Chinese medicine, and today it is recommended in just about every book I read on the subject of health and nutrition.
I have been practicing this for years and it has become a daily ritual like brushing my teeth. Dry brushing loosens dead cells, stimulates acupuncture points, and cleanses the lymphatic system. It is even said to reduce cellulite. Did that get your attention ladies?
So, how do I skin brush, you ask? First, buy yourself a soft-bristled, natural-fiber brush and, before you shower, start brushing your skin. Start at your feet and work your way up your body, using long upward strokes always moving towards your heart. Brush your hands and forearms up to your armpits and down your torso towards your heart. Give some extra “brush love” to your dimply areas. It feels great, takes minutes, and you are doing something good for your body.
Brusha, brusha, brusha…
